Global risk specialists Welund and Stirling Assynt are launching a ‘one stop shop’ online service to inform clients about the risk environment during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The web-based service will cover potential areas of risk to include Domestic Extremism, Irish Republican terrorism and the Jihadist threat.
The activist community is beginning to take an interest in corporate sponsorship and is starting to plan what to do. There remains a latent threat to the UK mainland from Republican terrorism, and Britain is a key priority for jihadist militants who have a track record of targeting sporting events. The possible threat from all three elements could increase in the months before the Games and companies could be specifically targeted.
The Enhanced 2012 Service will provide updates and assessments of both the collateral risk and targeting of commercial entities in the form of newsflashes, threat updates and background briefings. Access to the service will help those with corporate exposure around the Games and those seeking to manage physical and personnel risk to understand the nature and extent of threats, enabling them to limit vulnerabilities.
